Brisbane's newest park will be officially opened on Sunday 24 January following the redevelopment of the TAFE college site at Kangaroo Point. Offering sweeping views of the Brisbane River, CBD and Botanic Gardens, the 9,828m2 parcel of land is being returned to the public as part of the Q150 celebrations. Nestled on the edge of the Kangaroo Point cliffs, the new park will provide a unique environment for visitors and residents with its panoramic vistas, green spaces and recreation areas.

The new park at Kangaroo Point will feature five public artworks, four of which are under construction. These works have all been funded by art+place, the Queensland Government Public Art Fund. Two are organic or green installations while the third is a snaking tubular frame that invites interaction. The fourth installation is a series of viewing platforms perched on the edge of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, each with special solar effects. The fifth and largest commission, titled Crescendo, has yet to be decided and you can have your say by voting in our public art poll.

Arts Queensland would like to thank the thousands of Queenslanders who participated in Artpoll .The response was fantastic and the winner will be announced by the Premier and Arts Minister Anna Bligh at the official opening starting 10am Sunday 24 January 2010. The public are invited to join in the celebrations which will continue through to 2pm with bands, street performers, guided tours and a sausage sizzle on offer. It will be a fun day for all the family so bring your friends and explore Brisbane's newest park. Refreshments will be available.
